Safe Sport means creating a sport environment where everyone, especially youth, feels safe, respected, and supported.
It includes preventing and addressing all forms of maltreatment, such as abuse, bullying, harassment, discrimination, and neglect.
Safe Sport also means having clear rules for behaviour, education for participants, and a fair process to report and respond to concerns.
Whether you're an athlete, organization, parent, guardian, spectator, coach, or volunteer, it's up to you to make sport a safer place for all.
The Protecting Youth in Sports Act is a Manitoba law that helps keep young athletes safe.
It requires sport organizations to:
The Act makes Safe Sport a legal responsibility for sport organizations and strengthens protection for young participants.
Sport Manitoba offers a free, confidential advisory line and email service for individuals who may be experiencing abuse or maltreatment in sport and would like support in determining next steps. Contact 1-833-656-SAFE or help@safesportline.ca.
The Safe Sport Policy Manual was formally adopted by the MASRC Board of Directors on March 27, 2026.
