Please join us in welcoming Alex Stoikos to the Manitoba Aboriginal Sports & Recreation Council!
Alex joins MASRC as the Major Games Manager, where he will be responsible for overseeing Team Manitoba's participation at key national and international sporting events, including the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG), National Aboriginal Hockey Championships (NAHC), and the Manitoba Indigenous Summer Games (MISG). In this role, Alex will help support athletes, teams, and event coordination to ensure meaningful and high-quality competitive experiences.
Alex brings a deep passion for sport and competition, with a strong background as an athlete, volunteer, and staff member across multiple organizations. Originally from Ontario, he relocated to Winnipeg to take on the role of Competition Coordinator for the 2023 World Police and Fire Games. Most recently, he served in a similar capacity with Special Olympics Manitoba, further strengthening his experience in high-performance sport operations and inclusive programming.
In addition to his professional work, Alex is a dedicated lacrosse coach, working with several teams across Winnipeg. He also leads a FUNdamentals program with Special Olympics, where he focuses on building foundational skills, confidence, and enjoyment in sport. Alex is especially passionate about helping athletes develop self-agency and ensuring they have positive, meaningful experiences both on and off the field of play.
Outside of coaching and sport administration, Alex is also an active athlete himself, training in grappling sports including Judo and Jiu Jitsu. Across all his roles, he is committed to continuous learning and growth, always seeking to refine his craft and contribute to stronger sport communities.
Alex is excited to begin this new chapter with the MASRC and looks forward to the opportunities ahead as he supports Indigenous athletes and major sporting events across the region.
