Manitoba Aboriginal Sports & Recreation Council Welcomes Chantal Fritzsche as Executive Director

The Manitoba Aboriginal Sports & Recreation Council (MASRC) is pleased to welcome Chantal Fritzsche as its new Executive Director.

A proud Métis athlete, coach, entrepreneur, and community leader, Chantal brings a wealth of leadership experience and a lifelong commitment to advancing Indigenous sport, recreation, and wellness. Throughout her career, she has worked to create meaningful opportunities for Indigenous athletes and youth while strengthening communities through sport.

With more than 14 years of leadership and project management experience in the Government of Manitoba, Chantal has led operational initiatives, organizational change, and cross-departmental initiatives that have delivered positive outcomes across the province. Her collaborative leadership style and strategic vision will help guide the MASRC as it continues to support Indigenous athletes, coaches, officials, and communities throughout Manitoba.

Chantal has been actively involved in Indigenous sport through coaching, athlete development, and supporting both grassroots and competitive sport initiatives. Her work has focused on creating opportunities that foster confidence, teamwork, leadership, and lifelong participation in sport.

In addition to her work in sport, Chantal is the co-founder and co-owner of Re Sauna, a Métis woman-owned wellness business rooted in the values of healing, community, and balance. Through this work, she continues to champion holistic approaches to physical, mental, and community well-being.

Her contributions to Indigenous sport have earned provincial and national recognition. Chantal is a recipient of the prestigious Tom Longboat Award, recognizing her athletic excellence and leadership, and she is also an inductee of the Manitoba Aboriginal Sports & Recreation Council Hall of Fame, honouring her lasting impact on Indigenous sport in Manitoba.

Beyond her professional and athletic accomplishments, Chantal is deeply committed to mentorship and community development. She remains a strong advocate for Indigenous participation in sport and wellness, with a focus on ensuring youth have access to safe, inclusive, and empowering environments where they can develop confidence, resilience, and leadership both on and off the field of play.
