North End Multi-Sport Coordinator (SSD)- Full Time

Wage: $37,000-$38000

Position Description:

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the North End Multi-Sport Coordinator will coordinate a year round multi-sport program for Indigenous youth in Winnipeg. The sports are hockey, lacrosse and basketball. The goal of the SSD Program is to increase employability, education, health and lower at risk behaviour through the vehicle of sport and recreation. The Coordinator will plan and execute the programs with the above goals, by recruiting and equipping volunteer coaches and facilitators in each sport. The position will be based out of the Sport for Life Centre in Winnipeg, but often programs will be done off site in strategic program facilities.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have an in-depth knowledge of administration and organization
  • Recruit and work with 30-40 volunteer coaches to ensure they are trained an equipped
  • Collaborate with PSO's, other partners and facilities
  • Be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Have excellent time management skills, the ability to function independently and as part of a team
  • Ability and willingness to learn and facilitate all three sports

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in social science or education or 3-5 years equivalent work experience
  • Experience in office and sport or recreation, not for profit
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong skills in MS Office (Word, Outlook and Excel) or Google Software
  • Experience in project coordination and administration
  • A valid full Manitoba driver's license
  • Experience in administration with sports teams, leagues, camps and tournaments is an asset

Criminal Record Check and Manitoba Child Abuse Registry Check are required

Preference will be given to those of Indigenous descent (First Nation, Métis and Inuit)
