Indigenous Team Manitoba NAIG Assistant

The mission of the MASRC is to improve the health outcomes of Indigenous people throughout Manitoba by supporting and encouraging physically active communities. The programs delivered by the MASRC are designed to build capacity and increase access to sport, recreation and physical activity in Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, Inuit) communities - through partnerships in schools, communities (rural and urban) and with other delivery agencies across the province.

Position Description:
Under the direction of the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) Manager, the NAIG Assistant will assist in administering numerous sport tryouts over the summer and organize participant information into the MASRC database. The goal of this position is to help streamline the administration of Team Manitoba for NAIG 2020 in Halifax. The position will be based in Winnipeg, but frequent travel throughout the province is required.

Competencies and Requirements

• Applied knowledge of Indigenous community issues in Manitoba • Work or volunteer experience in the field of sport, recreation, and/or physical activity

• Event and project management experience • Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills

• Exceptional organizational skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) • Able to travel throughout the Province for weekly NAIG tryouts

• Assist with taking photos and video

• Assist in creating engaging social media posts

• Assist with other duties as assigned

• Successful completion of criminal record and vulnerable sector checks

Term: 12 weeks (35 hours per week) of summer employment
