About

The Toronto 2017 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) are expected to be the largest sporting and cultural gathering of Indigenous Peoples in North America. The Toronto 2017 NAIG will host more than 5,000 participants, 2,000 volunteers and countless spectators for 14 sport categories being held within world-class venues located across the Greater Toronto Area, including the Region of Hamilton and Six Nations of the Grand River.

Toronto 2017 NAIG Quick Facts

  • The Games provides Indigenous youth, aged 13-19, an opportunity to showcase their athletic abilities through 14 sports and to celebrate their heritage through numerous cultural events.
  • Participating teams include all 13 provinces and territories of Canada, as well as 13 regions from the United States.
  • Toronto 2017 NAIG marks the 10th Games and the first time in over 25 years the NAIG will be held in the Eastern Region of Canada

School Declaration - this is a document coming directly from the school that an athlete is enrolled in stating that they are currently an attending student there. This must be written on school letterhead. Click here for a letter requesting this from a school.

School Attendance - this is a document coming directly from the school that an athlete is enrolled in showing a complete breakdown of absences from January 2017 to the current date. This must be on school letterhead. Click here to see an example of an ideal School Attendance Report.

Ancestry - documents (ie Indian Status Card, Metis Card, Inuit Status Card) to show proof of Aboriginal Ancestry. If you do not have this please contact us immediately so we can better assist you.

Accreditation Photo - essentially a passport style photo that will be needed for your Athlete Badge that you must wear at all times at the 2017 NAIG facilities.

Child Abuse Registry Application - this is for any coach, athlete, manager or chaperone on Team Manitoba that will be over the age of 18 on or before July 16, 2017. Click here for form.
