Meet the Staff

Kurt Kelly, Executive Director
Kurt oversees all programs and day-to-day operations of the. MASRC. Kurt is a former national team member with Basketball Canada and has coached at various levels throughout the province of Manitoba. He is a former city councilor with business executive experience and was hired as Executive Director in July of 2007. Kurt is motivated to pass on the empowering experience of sport onto aboriginal youth and enjoys the challenges of his position.

 

Darryl Bauer, Community Sport Development Manager - South Region
Darryl has been instrumental in coordinating the variety of regional and community sport development programs within the South East Tribal Council, Dakota Ojibway Tribal Council, West Region Tribal Council, Island Lake Tribal Councils and Winnipeg Region Tribal Council. He works with both the First Nation and Metis Nation groups throughout the province to ensure equity to access of our programs. In addition to assisting with other programs and staff, Darryl specializes in community recreational planning and program planning. Darryl has been a staff member of the MASRC since November 2001 and is an OCN Band Member.

 

John Einarsson - Team Manitoba Manager
As a recent graduate of the University of Manitoba, John completed his Bachelor of Recreation Management and Development. John comes to us having national and international experience in sport management as he has had the opportunity to work with the 2007 Native Canadian Fastball Championships, and the 2007 IIHF World Women’s Hockey Championships. In addition to his sport management background john has was also the Director of Programming for the University of Manitoba Students’ Union and has coached youth with the Winnipeg Aboriginal Sport and Recreation Council. A Métis from Dauphin River, John is the Community Sport Development Manager for MASRC where his major task is working along with the 11 Sport Managers to development Team Manitoba competing in the 2008 North American Indigenous Games.

 

Dana Riccio - Communications Coordinator
A Métis from Inner City Winnipeg, Dana is currently in her last year as a student-athlete at Providence College; Dana is completing her degree in Communications and Media as the captain of her college basketball team. Dana has been named to the All-American basketball teams, received honorable mentions, and has been named the NCCAA Student - Athlete of the week in the NCCAA conference this past year. Dana is now ready and excited to begin using her schooling to her full advantage as the Communications Coordinator for MASRC.

 

Andrea Sutherland, Office Manager / Finance Co-ordinator
After receiving Honor Roll status in the Business Accountancy Course at Red River College, Andrea began working with MASRC in October of 1999 as a Receptionist. While running the Reception, Communications and Finance departments for many years, Andrea has now advanced to become the Office and Finance Manager for MASRC.
