Métis Volleyball Player Named to Team Canada Next Gen Team

Métis volleyball player Averie Allard has been named to the Volleyball Canada Next Gen National Team! The Next Gen team is an elite development program for world-class athletes to accelerate their training and development- many Next Gen athletes continue on to play for Team Canada.

Over the course of the summer, Averie has been training in Richmond, BC in preparation for international competition. She will compete at the Pan-Am Cup in Mexico from August 19-28 and the Pan Am Final Six in the Dominican from September 2-11.

Averie is a graduate of Sisler High School in Winnipeg, and currently is the starting setter for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies program. She is also the only Indigenous athlete on her team. Congrats to Averie and good luck in Mexico!
