CALL FOR COACHES

Team Manitoba - 2011 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships (NAHC)
To be held in May 2011

The Manitoba Aboriginal Sport & Recreation Council (MASRC) is now accepting applications from Aboriginal coaches for the Coaching positions with Team Manitoba. Team Manitoba will consist of two teams (male and female) comprised of bantam and midget age players. Both teams consist of 1 (one) head coach and 2 (two) assistant coaches.

All applicants must be of Aboriginal ancestry (First Nation, Metis, Inuit). The Head coach will possess a minimum of the new Coach or Development 1 level (equivalent to old Intermediate Level) coaching certification. The Assistant Coaches will have at least the new Coach level. Applicants need to provide their updated coaching experience/resume, as well as their coaching philosophy. Each team must possess at least one coach that is the same gender as the athletes being coached.

The successful applicants will oversee team selection, training, supervision, and guidance of athletes attending the Championships. Coaching staff are required to abide by the policies, rules and regulations, and other guidelines handed down by the MASRC, the Aboriginal Sport Circle and the respective NAHC Host.

The Female team will have a development camp in the summer of 2011 where the new coaching staff will select players for the 2011 NAHC.

The NAHC Selection Committee will select one Head Coach for the male team and one Head Coach for the female team. All coaching staff must have taken the Aboriginal Coach Manual course prior to the event. All positions are volunteer.
