Membership

Introduction
The Manitoba Aboriginal Sport & Recreation Council is accepting membership applications from individuals or organizations that support the mission, goals and objectives of the MASRC.

General Membership criteria
Any person of Aboriginal ancestry who is a Canadian citizen and who subscribes to the stated objectives of the Council shall become a general member of the organization upon making application to the Board of Directors.

  1. The Secretary of the Council shall maintain a register of members in good standing, which shall record the name, address and regional association of each member including the date of application and all particulars attesting to their qualification for membership on a form prescribed by the Board of Directors.

  2. The amount of the membership fee from each individual is set at $5.00. Membership applications are required to be in by April 1 of the respective year with membership expiring at the end of the fiscal year (March 31) following the Annual General Assembly.

  3. General membership must be of Aboriginal decent. Members elected to the Board of Directors must be at least (18) years of age.

  4. All general members shall have full voting privileges at the Annual General Assembly.

Associate Membership
Associate membership is open to any non-Aboriginal individual or organization, which support the vision, goals and objectives of the MASRC. Associate members shall be entitled to observe at Council meetings and Annual General Assemblies but do not have voting privileges.

Benefits of MASRC membership
General members have the opportunity to sit on any of the committees of the Board of Directors based on approved selection criteria (i.e. experience) and will receive notices of such meetings of the committee. Information such as roles and responsibilities of the committees are available upon request./p>

  1. Promotional material sent to both general and associate members at scheduled times throughout the year, i.e. quarterly newsletter, through any method preferred (i.e. email) and identified in the application.

  2. Meeting notices of the Annual General Assembly will be forwarded directly to the address provided as per Constitution and By-Laws.

  3. Members will be provided the opportunity to promote their upcoming events in the News & Events section of the MASRC website. Conditions do apply.
